Last summer when Marcy’s family was expelled, they moved out and left her behind, leaving her out to fend for herself. She found shelter in an old cardboard box in the yard of a neighbor and lived there for several months, until somebody finally decided in December that they couldn’t let her live like that anymore.
For the birthday of her niece, Rebecca McGinn was visiting her brother when he told her about a cat residing in his yard. She walked out to see if Marcy would let her approach her — and fell in love immediately.
McGinn realized she was taking her home as quickly as she saw Marcy, sick and homeless. “I decided to adopt her, shivering and having sore eyes inside a soggy cardboard box,” McGinn informed The Dodo. “She went up for animals as quickly as she saw me and she was so nice and affectionate.”
When McGinn first brought her in, Marcy was in quite horrible condition, and after being seen by a vet, she was determined to have eye problems, worms, pneumonia, lung infection, and skin problems that caused her fur to drop out of clumps. Everyone realized Marcy’s path to recovery was going to be a lengthy one, but McGinn was just enthusiastic about getting her home and showing her what it was like having a lovely, warm place to snuggle with a family that loves you.
“She instantly settled in and for days curled up and slept,” McGinn said.
Marcy was so pleased to lastly have soft, cuddly spots to curl up on after all she had been through, and is now addicted to all comfortable stuff. “What she loves most is being cuddled up with me and my partner,” McGinn said. “She’s obsessed with blankets and individuals 100 percent. She likes to be covered up and tucked in. She’s 99 percent of the moment on or in a smooth blanket!”
Whether it’s pillows …
or one of her fresh beings, Marcy is now an expert in finding comfortable places to sleep, and she has no plans to end that habit shortly.
Marcy is totally obsessed with her new life, and she is so loving and confident even after all she has been through. She may have had a tough past, but now that she has discovered the best new family, she will make sure she is pleased and comfortable for the remainder of her days.
“She has the most caring, sweetest character,” said McGinn. “She’s amazingly clingy and loves attention. With everyone, she’s so hot and confident.”
