This homeless man Loong Dum from Thailand, despite living a tough life at the train station, always ensures that his friends, stray cats, are well cared for and fed. He may have no kids, but he knows care responsibility.
He sells limes on the street every day to make money for his companions to buy food.
Sometimes he doesn’t have enough food for himself and he’s hungry, but no matter what, feeding his beloved cats is always his first priority. They are his family to him, and they are relying on him.
“I’m fine for meals to skipp, but the cat needs to eat,” he said.
Loong Dum’s story is viral after a young woman named Warunya Wattanasupachoke saw him sell limes with a sign saying, “20 baht per bag, profits are going to pay for the food expenses of stray cat.”
Animal lovers admire his kindness and offer to help him on social media when his story went round. Some of them came from him to buy limes while others provided him with cat food and supplies.
Some people even took him to get haircut after that and gave him brand new clothes. He returned to the street after he had his makeover to sell limes because without his beloved cats he had no meaning in his life.
“Based on their appearance, we should not judge someone,” Warunya said. “Take for instance Loong Dum. He’s homeless and rough-looking, but he’s got a big heart.”
Loong Dum has inspired many people around the world to show love, compassion, and help to those in need – whether human or stray animals.
